
DR. Jay Jinseop Jang,
Dr. Jay Jinseop Jang is an educational leader in Boston and has held leadership positions in the non-profit and business sectors. Dr. Jang, a graduate of Korea Military Academy, served as a strategic planner at the US-Korea Combined Forces Command and the United Nations Command. After earning MBA/MPA degrees from New York University (NYU) and Harvard University (HKS), he manages two educational institutions: the Educational Divide Reform Institute (www.edrworld.org) and The Academy at Harvard Square (www.theacademy.ac), in Cambridge, MA.
Dr. Jang is also the Director of the Korean Peninsula Project and a Senior Fellow at the Center for Peace, Democracy, and Development at the McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston. His research includes national/human security and global governance. In 2023, Dr. Jang organized an international symposium titled “The History and Future of the United Nations Command in Korea” at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Dr. Jang founded the Educational Divide Reform (EDR) Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (www.edrworld.org), in 2013. Under his leadership, EDR has promoted inclusive social cohesion and implemented youth education programs such as “Step Up” and “Pathfinder” for the academic improvement and career preparation of low-income immigrant youth in the Boston area. Dr. Jang also designed international youth leadership education programs for UN Sustainable Development Goals, and “My Global Village” to support educational development of rural area students.
Dr. Jang is a member of the Boston Committee of Foreign Relations and the Boston Economic Club. Additionally, Dr. Jang (7th degree black belt) was one of founding directors of the US Taekwondo Education Foundation, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Boston OKTA Korean Business Association. In 2024, MK(Maekyung) Business Newspaper selected him for the Korea Global Leader Award.
